The WBC serves as both a showcase and a springboard for France’s most talented baristas, presenting the talents of the profession. Each year, this championship redefines our understanding of coffee’s potential, encouraging us to see, taste and appreciate coffee in new and exciting ways.
Over fifteen participants push the limits of coffee by demonstrating innovation, creativity and technical skill. They have 15 minutes to serve three signature drinks based around a strong, innovative concept.
Their skills are rigorously assessed according to key criteria, such as taste, cleanliness, creativity, technical skill and overall presentation.
A panel of national and international judges assess each performance, paying particular attention to these important aspects.
SCA France is the French section of the Specialty Coffee Association, established in 2005, with the aim of constantly improving the quality of coffee at every stage of the chain, in order to achieve excellence from the plant to the cup. While remaining objective and respecting different traditions and cultures, the SCA brings together stakeholders who are working to raise standards and improve the quality of coffee around the world. Through events, a comprehensive training programme and opportunities for sharing, it creates solidarity, momentum and support to achieve its goals.
The association is the official organiser of the WCE (World Coffee Events) coffee championships in France.
